FUUSE founders win DiSciullo Award

As posted on FUUSE:
Congratulations to Erik David Carlson and Jonathan Craig, recipients of the 2005 Donna DiSciullo Award for Young Adult and Campus Ministry, given annually by the UUA to recognize outstanding contributions to the world of young adult and campus ministry in our Association.
Erik and Jonathan are being recognized, of course, for the incredible vision, dedication and endless hours of volunteer time that have resulted in FUUSE.

To quote from their nomination letter:
“FUUSE has now evolved into a vibrant community, where members can share pictures, music, writings, journals, news and participate in private and public message board discussions on all issues- UU and otherwise.
“FUUSE.com has greatly benefited the YA UU movement by posting CUUYAN and YACM news items, connecting local groups to the continental level and vice-versa, introducing new young adults to Unitarian Universalism, maintaining an accurate and up-to-date calendar of upcoming events, helping UUs from across the planet interact with one another, and facilitating committee communication. Most importantly, FUUSE has helped to create a strong UU Young Adult Identity.
“Throughout its tenure, FUUSE has evolved and adapted to meet the needs of its growing community, setting up a covenant to determine appropriate rules of conduct amongst FUUSE members, establishing an Ally Team to deal with issues and conflicts as they arise, and organizing forum structure to best facilitate specific discussions.”
The award selection committee, presented with several outstanding nominees this year, came to a consensus decision that the importance of this on-line community should be recogized throughout our Association.
The award will be formally presented at the UUA General Assembly in Fort Worth, Texas near the beginning of the Saturday morning plenary session (Sat, June 25 at 8:30am).
